For knitters who work from charts

Knit from your chart without losing your row

Knitglow turns an image or a PDF page of your pattern into an editable chart. You review it against the original, then it keeps your row and repeat so you can stop and pick up exactly where you were.

What works today

Free in your browser now. No account needed.

  1. Bring in your chart

A PNG, JPEG or WebP image, or one page of a PDF, up to 15 MB.

  2. Fit the grid

Set the four corners and the number of stitches and rows. A suggested grid is a starting point you adjust.

  3. Match symbols to your legend

Pick one sample cell for each symbol and say what it means, using your original pattern's legend. Similar cells are matched on your device; unclear ones stay unknown.

  4. Review and approve

Compare your chart with the original pattern side by side, fix cells, and approve once every cell is reviewed.

  5. Track rows and repeats

Mark rows done, undo, and set one repeat range (1–99 times). The reading direction follows flat or in-the-round knitting.

  6. Resume where you stopped

Your row, notes and approval are saved in this browser. Export a backup to keep a second copy.

  7. On your device, in English and Korean

Files are processed in the browser and are not uploaded.

Questions

What are the limits today?

Rectangular knitting charts up to 100 sts × 100 rows, one chart per project and one repeat range per chart. Matching is semi-automatic: you name each symbol from your original pattern's legend, and every result needs your review. Knitglow doesn't read written patterns, guess what a symbol means, or check stitch counts.

Is my chart uploaded anywhere?

No. Images and PDFs are processed in your browser. Charts, progress and notes are stored in this browser. There is no account and no cloud sync yet.

What if I clear my browser data or switch devices?

Clearing browser data deletes your charts, and they don't move to another device on their own. Use Export backup in the Your work menu to keep a copy you can restore elsewhere.

Do you collect any data?

Only anonymous usage counts, and only when they are switched on for this site: a random browser ID, the event name and where the visit came from. No chart content, names or email addresses. Privacy and opt-out

Who handles payment?

No one yet: payments aren't open.

How do I cancel?

There's nothing to cancel yet: Plus isn't open.
